I recently had my purse stolen. Although I immediately canceled my two debit cards (I have no credit cards) the person was able to use one card at a gas station. My bank told me I had to take up a dispute with BP before I could even talk to them. I have no idea if I should contact the individual store, BP as a whole, or someone else. All I have is the store number (BP OIL 1077551). I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me locate a direct way to contact whoever it is I'm supposed to be contacting.
Also, if there is any other advice you could give me to prevent further identity theft (I've so far just cancelled everything and then placed my name on alert with the major credit bureaus) I would be very greatful for that as well. Thanks in advance.Reversing charges on stolen debit card - How do I get in contact with BP Oil?
Your bank is wrong. Go into the bank. Tell them you want to fill out a dispute form. Dispute the charge. Tell them you want to also make sure your cards are hot listed. If your bank is open on 07-05-2008 I would go in tomorrow before Noon otherwise go in on 07-07-2008. They may not be able to send the dispute form in until 07-07 but they can still hot list your cards.Reversing charges on stolen debit card - How do I get in contact with BP Oil?
You should contact your bank and keep them informed of the situation! Also report to the police!
